In June 2026, Sofia pays tribute to Atanas Patsev on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth. A series of exhibitions across the capital celebrate the artist's remarkable contribution to Bulgarian art, offering visitors a unique opportunity to rediscover his creative legacy.

Art lovers can explore two exhibitions featuring Patsev's works. The larger retrospective is hosted at the Rayko Aleksiev Gallery of the Union of Bulgarian Artists, located at 125 Georgi S. Rakovski Street. Complementing this exhibition is a more intimate display at Gallery ARTE, a charming art space at 31 Buzludzha Street, where visitors can admire a carefully curated selection of paintings, including one of the artist's finest self-portraits.

Born in 1926, Atanas Patsev belonged to a generation of Bulgarian artists who shaped the country's visual culture in the second half of the twentieth century.
