⚠️Update on Temporary Evacuation of Terminal C at LPIA
Earlier today, our Operations Centre received reports of a suspected gas odor near the airline corridor in Terminal C (U.S. Departures) at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA). Within minutes, the Airport Authority’s Crash Fire and Rescue team and our Maintenance and Safety team members responded to the incident and immediately began assessing the area to identify the source.
The Fire Marshal determined that a temporary evacuation of Terminal C was necessary while the assessment was underway, and out of an abundance of caution, passengers were directed to designated areas outside the facility. The source of the issue was subsequently identified, isolated and it was determined that there was no further concern for passengers, staff or the operation.
At 11:47 a.m., the all-clear was given for Terminal C. Airport staff were given priority to return to their stations to prepare for the safe processing of passengers. At approximately 12:00 p.m., passengers were allowed to return to the terminal and check-in and processing resumed.
We thank all airport stakeholders who were part of the evacuation process, and they are to be commended for the speed and efficiency of the process and their demonstrated dedication to the safety of our guests, staff and the facility.
Passengers are encouraged to contact their airline directly for the latest flight information.
