Had one of those unforgettable bush moments on Chobe National Park transit road 🦎🌿
While driving along the main road, we spotted a tiny chameleon slowly making his way across — right in the path of passing vehicles. We couldn’t just leave him there, so we carefully picked him up and helped him safely to the other side. Such a small creature, but a big reminder of how important it is to look out for wildlife, no matter the size.
A few fascinating facts about chameleons:
• They don’t just change color for camouflage — it’s also how they communicate mood, temperature, and even stress.
• Their eyes can move independently, giving them a full 360° view of their surroundings 👀
• A chameleon’s tongue can be up to twice the length of its body and shoots out faster than you can blink!
• They have specialized feet and tails designed for gripping branches, making them incredible climbers 🌿
Moments like this remind us that we’re just visitors in their world. 💚
