Saturday Oct 3...Meaford Craft show and Scarecrows..
A beautiful crisp fall morning we headed north towards Meaford. After a coffee stop in Collingwood we first stopped at Grandma Lambs. Too many apple varieties to name and fresh baked goods ...many bags of goodies were loaded back on the bus. Then off in search of scarecrows.Frank Kestner our driver drove us thru the main street and parks to see all the wonderful scarecrow displays. Next stop shopping at the craft show.With over 200 vendors there was lots to see and buy.
Our final stop of the day was Pebbles buffet restaurant.It did not disappoint.
It was a fun day of shopping and sightseeing and some beautiful fall colors plus a lovely sunset..

September 22...
Timeless Gentlemen of the Opry...
A beautiful morning for a drive to the Six Nations of the Grand...Our day started with a stop at Iroqcraft native store for a bit of shopping.Many people bought different native objects including Christmas ornaments. Then off to the main event where we had an afternoon of listening to classic country and western oldies. The likes of Johnny Cash, Hank Williams,Conway Twitty,Charlie Pride and others.Plus a special surprise tribute to Dolly Parton.Lunch was served midway thru the show,buffet style consisting of roast beef and BBQ chicken. Delicious!!..A great afternoon outing. Special thanks you to Moe Blakey for his excellent driving....Sharon

Thurs., Sept. 24, 2026 - Day 12 - Returning Home. On our final day we must say goodbye to the staff of the historic, Glynmill Inn in Corner Brook. In the early 1920’s,Armstrong-Wentworth Company of England decided their senior staff required living quarters while they were supervising construction of what was, up to that time the largest project ever undertaken in the history of paper making. To this day Corner Brook has the only Pulp & Paper Mill in the province. The sun shone this morning and we visited Cook’s Lookout. Captain James Cook surveyed the waters of this region in 1767. From this vantage point we could look down over the Krueger Mill and the Humber River. We made a photo stop at The Newfie Bullet Train Museum before travelling to Deer Lake where we visited the Newfoundland Insectarium & Butterfly Pavilion. The Insectarium is a world class Nature Museum, home to both live and mounted insects from around the world owned by Sandy & Lloyd Howlett. There were approx a thousand butterflies fluttering about & landing on people today. They were extremely active to the delight of our group. Happy Birthday wishes go out to Linda today. It's funny but the only wildlife we spotted was a beaver crossing the highway, no moose or caribou on this trip. We left for home with wonderful memories and hundreds of photographs from our adventure of 2610 kms over the past 12 days. Our thanks is extended to Alex Vlasov our Parsons driver for his excellent driving and for jumping in on short notice to drive our tour - the heart of a Newfoundlander by way of Ukraine. Thank you to my guests who supported Hamilton Tours on our 4th tour of 2026 of Newfoundland & Labrador. Thank you for allowing me to share my love of this beautiful province with all of you. Wed., September 23, 2026 - Day 11 of 12 - Woody Point & the Tablelands. This is one of my most favourite days as we explore this region on the West Coast of Newfoundland. It was a beautiful drive around Bonne Bay as we travelled through Gros Morne National Park on route 430. We turned West at Wiltondale onto route 431 and headed out to the Tablelands early in the morning to avoid the crowds. The views were spectacular and the fall colours were just starting. We made photo stops at the Tablelands, saw the provincial flower, The Pitcher Plant, some our group walked on the earth’s mantle for a short hike and we all took several photos of this unique landscape.Peridotite is the dominant rock of the upper part of Earth's mantle, giving it the rusty brown color. We travelled out to Trout River where we experienced the original form of “Online shopping” with Joy - a local resident. Then it was off to Woody Point for lunch. We were warmly greeted by Jenny & Stan Parsons, owners of the Merchant Warehouse. After lunch we headed upstairs to The Loft Theatre where we were entertained by Kendra Parsons & Paul Rumboldt in the musical performance of “Woody Point of View”. This hour-long show features storytelling, traditional songs, and visual elements, highlighting the special heritage of the region. In the afternoon we visited the Park’s Discovery Centre and watched the award winning film, before departing for Corner Brook, for our overnight stay at the beautiful Glynmill Inn. An evening group dinner was served upon arrival. It has been such an incredible day from start to finish. It started with Sharon Cole of Shallow Bay Motel telling us a few jokes before we departed. It has been a day filled with music, laughter, great food & breathtaking scenery.

Tuesday., September 22, 2026 - Day 10 of 12 - The first day of Fall. Today was a travel day as we retraced our journey south on Route 430. We woke to heavy rain that had moved into the region overnight, continuing from St. Anthony to Port aux Choix. However, the sun came out this afternoon, the winds picked up, and despite the +9°C, it felt much colder.
We drove to the Port Riche Lighthouse, hoping to see the small caribou herd that resides there, but they were nowhere to be found. The lighthouse has a unique “pepper pot” design—an octagonal pyramid wooden tower painted white with a red lantern room. Standing 62 feet tall, it was built in 1892 and remains active today, flashing a white light every five seconds. We enjoyed the views and the crashing waves at The Arches Provincial Park, which opened to the public in 1972. These three remaining arches were carved from the rock by thousands of years of crashing waves and erosion. There was a fourth arch, but it collapsed in the past 15 years. This evening, we’re staying at the Shallow Bay Motel in Cow Head. We enjoyed a delicious dinner of ribs or salmon, and were personally greeted by Darel House, the owner. It’s a popular family-run restaurant, motel, and bar located across from the Nurse Myra Bennett Theatre. (I posted a short video clip from under the Arches for your enjoyment.
