Fri., Aug. 28 – Day 12 of 15 - Today we left Battle Harbour with mixed emotions. It is such a beautiful, peaceful place and we enjoyed hot, sunny weather during our 2 night stay. Even the Arctic fox came down to the wharf area as we were preparing to depart. It is a place that you leave a piece of your heart behind when you visit. We even experienced a full lunar eclipse in the wee hours of the morning. The sky was full of stars, it was nothing short of magical. We sailed back to Mary’s Harbour at 9:00a.m. With calm seas. It was there we said goodbye to Peter Bull, the Executive Director & the rest of the staff. We travelled south to the Parks Canada Site in Red Bay to learn about the Basque Whaling Port. A visit to Point Amour Lighthouse, towering at 109 feet, it is the tallest in Atlantic Canada and second highest in the country completed our day. Quite a few of our group climbed the 135 steps to take in the view from the top of the Lighthouse. When we thought our day was winding down, we spotted 3 moose, a cow and her twin calves! Just before reaching the Northern Light Inn in L’Anse au Claire! What an amazing ending to another perfect touring day.

St. Lawrence Seaway Tour - Sat. Aug. 28-This morning after departing Montebello our first visit is Parc Omega.
Armed with carrots to feed the deer, we travelled in their bus on a 12-km safari route, to discover North American wildlife—elk, bison, wolves, bears, foxes, and much more—in their natural habitat. Now on to Ottawa for a short visit and lunch at the Byward Market before heading for home. Thank you for travelling with Hamilton tours ltd. Also a big thanks to our driver Pryce for a safe trip. Fri. Aug. 27/26 -Today is a travelling day as we depart Quebec City and travel to Montebello to stay in the Worlds largest log cabin. The Fairmont Chateau Montebello never disappoints with its beautiful architecture, accommodation and wonderful meals. From, Julie

Thurs. Aug. 27- This morning we started our day with a tour of Vieux Québec with our guide Jim. We stopped on the Plains of Abraham for a history talk and then continued
to explore both the Upper and Lower towns by coach. The afternoon and evening were free so everyone could explore on their own and enjoy some local cuisine. The best way to see Old Quebec is by

Wed. Aug. 26- Au revoir to Montreal as we make our way to Quebec City. At Trois Rivières, we visited Chez Danys, which is a traditional Sugar Shack where we enjoyed lunch with entertainment and also learned about the production of Maple syrup in Quebec.
Upon arrival in Quebec City we checked for a two night stay at the Manoir Victoria inside the walls of Old Quebec. We completed the day with dinner at Aux Anciens Canadiens. The building has quite a history as it is one of the largest
and oldest buildings in the Upper Quebec period, built
between 1675 and 1676.
Aux Anciens Canadiens is internationally renowned
for the quality of its cuisine and its warm welcome.

Tues.Aug.25- This morning we depart Kingston and travel on the Thousand island parkway. Our first stop is a visit to the Saunders Hydro Dam which is located on the St. Lawrence. Our guided tour was very interesting and the Saunders hydro dam is truly an engineering feat. In the afternoon we travelled to Montreal where we met our guide for a city tour. We concluded our evening with a group dinner and overnight stay at the beautiful Queen Elizabeth Hotel.

The month of August has been extremely busy with a variety of day trips led by Christine & Sharon, Julie is currently in Ontario & Quebec following the St. Lawrence Seaway & Susanne is in Newfoundland & Labrador.
