This demonstrates that any solution to the housing and water crises in hundreds of communities in Canada has to be led and implanted by the community to it can be maintained by the community. $30 million in prize money that doesn’t build any homes for anyone is an insult. The money that First Nations are owed by the government is administered by that same government and somehow that costs 50% of the total. That’s not the act of a responsible trustee. They don’t actually give out the money they created hundreds of hoops to be jumped through in order to give the government final say over how the money is used. Allow the people enough respect to believe that they know what the communities need. Cut out the middleman!
