Fresh off another last minute adventure and I'm taking a bit of time to jot down some thoughts about cruising along with some of my favourite pictures from this trip. These are some of my personal highlights. If you've never cruised, can't decide if it's right for you, sitting on the fence...maybe some of these are different from your expectations of what a cruise is, or can be. If you have cruised before, feel free to chime in below if these speak to you, and also add your own!
Some things I love on every cruise:
Seeing multiple parts of the world without packing and unpacking for each move
Meals are easy (and included!) on the ship and maybe you'll find a cool place for lunch while exploring a port
Sea Days where you can do everything...or nothing at all, and both are just fine!
Family time, Couples time...no grocery shopping, meal prep, to do lists. Just some time to be together.
Some things I loved on this cruise:
Playing a game of how many different shades of clear blue water can we find throughout the Mediterranean
Gyros and a Beer while looking out at the sea and a lighthouse older than Canada in Chania, Greece
Baklava slices as big as your head in Mykonos
Walking the incredible walled city of Dubrovnik (shoutout to Game of Thrones fans) and stumbling on the most beautiful candy store I've ever seen (tasty too!)
Malta! Just wandering around Malta, what an incredible place to see from the water and then on land.
Chicken fingers on a sun lounger while the Ionian Sea slides by...the new fresh made to order taco bowls were also a strong contender!
Getting up early to grab a latte (with Buzz Lightyear 'printed' into the foam) and wander a near empty ship just to appreciate all the details.
Late night trips to the top deck to grab a slice of pizza, see what movie is playing under the stars, and try to snap pictures of the moon!
And on and on! Important note - we booked this trip on about 30 days notice, visited 5 different ports, and booked no advanced excursions or tours. It was amazing!
You can, and sometimes need to, plan a trip down to the minute, but these Mediterranean ports really lend themselves to exploring at your own pace and that's often when we have our best days!
