🚢 There’s always something to see on the Seaway
Pictured is the MV BBC LEER passing through Iroquois Lock on Wednesday carrying a shipment of wind turbine blades.

The MV BBC LEER is the part of BBC Chartering’s new LakerMax series of multipurpose vessels, designed with the dimensions of the Great Lakes–St. Lawrence Seaway in mind.

🚢 August Traffic Snapshot
Total tonnage on the Seaway reached 20.7 million tonnes through the end of August, an increase of 2.6% compared to the same period last year.

The numbers illustrate the Seaway’s vital role in keeping goods moving and connecting North America to markets around the world.

This week, members of our team had a chance to visit Hamilton-Oshawa Port Authority and get a closer look at the facilities and operations at the Port of Hamilton.

Thanks to HOPA Ports, Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited, Logistec and SucroCan Sourcing LLC for an informative and engaging day. It was a great opportunity to learn more about their operations and see the port in action.

🚢 The Seaway welcomes all types of vessels.

This week, Le Bellot, a luxury expedition cruise ship operated by Ponant Cruises, is making its way through the Seaway. Built in 2020, the vessel is 430 feet long and features 92 cabins. Le Bellot is seen here passing through the Welland Canal.

Total tonnage on the Seaway reached 16.5 million tonnes through the end of July, on par with the same period last navigation season. These results underscore the Seaway’s role as a vital trade corridor and driver of the North American economy.
