CPKC Rail has announced that if an agreement is not reached with the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) by August 22, they may need to lock out employees starting at 12:01 AM ET that day. This could happen if the union and the company cannot come to an agreement or choose to go to arbitration.
The decision comes after a ruling by the Canada Industrial Relations Board, which stated that no services need to be maintained during a strike or lockout for public health and safety. The board also extended the current negotiation period until August 22. After this date, a legal strike or lockout could occur.

CPKC is committed to resolving this issue as soon as possible and has urged the union to agree to arbitration, which could bring stability quickly. However, if no agreement is reached, CPKC will have to move forward with the lockout to protect the supply chain during the busy fall shipping season.

Customers shipping vehicles by rail with MVS Canada should be aware that there could be delays due to this situation. We recommend preparing for potential disruptions.

Attention Vehicle Shippers: Protect Your Vehicle During Transport!

At MVS, we prioritize the safe transportation of your vehicles. Over the past few months, we've noticed an increase in instances where damages occur to vehicle gas doors and mirror housings during transit. These damages can result from high winds and vibrations caused by trailers, especially as some vehicles are loaded backwards. Gas doors—even locking gas doors—may be damaged as the wind could possibly get behind it and blow it open. Older vehicles are particularly susceptible to this type of damage.

We want to raise awareness about this issue, as damages to gas caps and mirror housings are not typically covered by carrier insurance due to their classification as non-negligent or acts of nature. However, we have a solution that can help prevent these damages.

Customers can take a proactive approach by applying automotive tape to their gas doors before shipping. This specialized tape, which can be easily found in hardware stores, offers a protective layer without damaging automotive paint. By securely applying tape over the gas cap, you can greatly minimize the risk of it being torn open by strong winds during transport.

We want to inform you of the potential work stoppage at CP Rail that may affect our vehicle shipping services in Canada. The Union representing CP Rail workers has advised on its intent to strike should recent negotiations around a new contract fail to yield results. Negotiations between CPKC and the Teamsters Union are ongoing, but there is still a significant gap between the two parties.

A 21-day meditation period has begun, and if a new collective agreement is not reached by May 22nd, a work stoppage may occur. This will impact freight transportation, supply chains, and commuter train services on the CPKC network.

We are monitoring the situation closely and are arranging contingencies should the work stoppage move ahead.

Scammers are posing as a desperate seller and listing their vehicle at a really low price. The scammer is saying that we (MVS Canada Logistics) will ship you the vehicle once you make payment. However, this is a scam!

MVS Canada does not offer escrow services for people selling a vehicle.

🛑 Don't fall for it! Here's what you need to know:

Verify the Seller: Ensure the seller is legitimate before making any payments.

Don’t Buy Sight Unseen: Always inspect a vehicle prior to purchasing it.

Too Good to Be True: If the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Exercise caution and do your research.

Secure Payment: Never make payments to unknown individuals or through unconventional methods. Use secure payment platforms or methods that offer buyer protection.

Report Suspicious Activity: If you come across any suspicious ads or activity, report it immediately to Facebook and other relevant authorities.
