At Cowichan Tribes Transportation, we are proud to support capacity building within our community and help create opportunities for our younger generation.

One young man showing strong interest and dedication is Jimmy Gray. Jimmy has been serving as a Bus Monitor with our transportation department for the past few months, and during that time he has shown a real passion for learning what it takes to become a professional bus driver.
Our team has been working closely with Jimmy, showing him the ropes on pre-trips, post-trip inspections, safety procedures, responsibility, and the day-to-day expectations that come with transporting our children safely. Learning the transportation industry takes time, patience, and commitment, but Jimmy has been hands-on and eager to learn every step of the way.

This is what capacity building looks like in our community
creating opportunities, mentoring our own people, and helping build long-term careers for the future.

Cowichan Tribes Transportation welcomes community members who may be interested in obtaining their Class 1, Class 2, or Class 4 licences. Whether it’s driving school buses or mini vans, we encourage people to come down to the Bus Compound, observe pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ask questions, and learn more about the transportation field.
We hope Jimmy’s journey inspires others to consider coming on board and becoming part of a growing transportation team that does so much for our community and our children every single day.

We are thankful for Jimmy’s positive attitude, willingness to learn, and hands-on approach. The future of transportation depends on investing in our own people, and we are proud to be part of that path forward.
