Beecentric Hive

Beecentric Hive Inspired by Nature. Built for Bees. Beecentric Hives is an eight frame Langstroth hive with a Warre style insulated quilt-box and vented roof.

Handmade in Edmonton, Alberta for local pickup or shipping across Canada and the United States. In 2011, I started keeping honeybees in traditional Warre hives but I missed the versatility of movable frames. The following year, I modified the Warre hive to accept standard medium frames and the Beencentric Hive was born. Soon, friends and the local beekeeping community were asking about the hives a

nd wanting some for themselves. Since that time, I've been taking order for the hives and making them available for the local market.

Hello, Present and Future Beekeepers,

I have been teaching in-person, online, and hands-on beekeeping courses for many years and have always wanted to create more opportunities for hobby beekeepers.

This is why I'm excited to share The Bee Community - a space that supports small-scale and backyard beekeepers with classes and networking opportunities to manage honeybees using techniques that align with nature.

I know many of you love to follow the adventures of my backyard bees. I first started to learn about bees in 2018 when I took a beekeeping course with Dustin Bajer.
The following spring I eagerly picked up my Beecentric Hive from Dustin a few weeks later I picked up my first bees and that started my fascination and adventures with these incredible insects. Like many small businesses Dustin has had to pivot and is now teaching online, his courses are now available to register for on his website. He teaches a course to learn the ins and outs of backyard beekeeping as well as a course about honeybees! Heโ€™s an incredible teacher engaging with students all while making it feel like a doable hobby! Whether you want to learn more about honeybees start your backyard beekeeping adventure or have a friend or family member thatโ€™s keen to learn, Dustinโ€™s courses have you covered. A great Christmas gift idea too thatโ€™s supporting local. Head to his page for more info.

Beaverhill Bird Observatory - BBO is an independent, nonprofit education and research station situated east of Edmonton. Since 1984, they have been monitoring migratory and breeding bird populations, undertaking habitat enhancement products, and educating the public about birds, conservation and climate change. One of the things they offered up for this gift guide is the chance to meet a raptor from the comfort of your own backyard (Peregrine Falcon or a Northern Saw-whet Owl). It's sure to be a hoot! ๐Ÿฆ‰
