Harv Wilkening Transport Ltd., requires Independent Contractors for our Domestic and LCV Fleets domiciled in AB, SK and MB. This position is running Open Dispatch, 10 days on and up to 4 days off.

What You'll Do:
Pickup and delivery of freight in a safe and efficient manner
Handle freight and freight documents
Perform Pre-trip, post-trip inspections and preventative maintenance checks
Professional communication with customers
Ensure 100% compliance with safety
Perform all other duties as requested

Qualifications:
Class 1A driver’s license
Minimum 2 years of verifiable truck driving experience
Must own your own truck (5 years or newer)
LCV experience
Ability to drive in all terrains
Experience with heaters and reefers
Professional appearance and good hygiene
Safe driving record verified by a current drivers abstract
Ability to perform all duties without restriction

This year the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Brake Safety Week is scheduled to take place from August 23rd – 29th with a focus on brake drums and rotors. During this time, expect an increased presence of law enforcement with regular checks being performed across North America.

To support our drivers and minimize inspection violations, we will be performing our own yard inspections which are set to begin on August 19th.

Operation Safe Driver Week is scheduled to begin on Sunday, July 12th. During this time, an increased law enforcement presence will be on roadways looking for commercial motor vehicle drivers engaging in risky driving behaviours.

With the warmer weather in the summer months, it is important to remind ourselves of the increased wildlife presence on roadways. As our population continues to grow, our highway networks expand further into wildlife habitat. These expansions along with increased traffic volumes have caused wildlife vehicle collisions to become more frequent. Remember to take necessary precautions to prevent wildlife collisions.

REPOST: Today is the first day of CVSA's 72-hour International Roadcheck commercial motor vehicle inspection and enforcement initiative.
