**10 YEARS.**
On October 1st, 2016, Great Lakes Logistics Transport Inc. officially opened its doors.
Ten years ago, I didn't have a ten-year business plan or some grand vision of where this company would eventually go. I was simply trying to figure out what came next.
After many years in the transportation industry, I found myself at a crossroads. So I started Great Lakes Logistics with a computer, a phone, a lot of experience, and a willingness to figure things out one load at a time.
And apparently, that worked.
Over the past 10 years, we've moved an awful lot of freight — everything from trucks, trailers and RVs to excavators, dozers, tractors, harvest equipment, specialty machinery and some seriously oversized pieces of iron.
We've moved freight across Canada and between Canada and the United States. We've worked with first-time customers who became repeat clients, carriers who became trusted partners, and businesses that have continued to call us year after year.
There have been some incredible loads, some complicated loads, some frustrating loads, and more than a few situations where the original plan went completely out the window and we had to figure out Plan B, C, or sometimes D.
That's logistics.
Looking back, I think the biggest thing I've learned is that this business has never really been about simply finding a truck.
It's about relationships. Communication. Trust. Solving problems when things don't go according to plan. And most importantly, doing what you say you're going to do.
Ten years later, I can honestly say I'm pretty damn proud of what Great Lakes Logistics has become.
So to every customer who has trusted us with a load, every carrier who has hauled for us, every business that has sent work our way, and everyone who has helped us along the way — **thank you.**
You've all played a part in this journey.
Here's to the first 10 years being in the books — and to whatever comes next.
