Emergency Preparedness Exercise – October 8th, 2026

Please be aware that the Fredericton International Airport Authority (FIAA) will conduct an emergency preparedness exercise on October 8, from 9 AM – 12 PM.
The emergency exercise is a regulatory requirement as well as an opportunity for the FIAA and other emergency responders in Fredericton to test their response to an onsite incident.

Emergency response vehicles will be on site, and there will be smoke on the airfield. There is no cause for alarm, this is part of a planned and controlled exercise mandated by Transport Canada.
The exercise will bring together the FIAA and local emergency responders to test their response to an incident at the airport and strengthen coordination.

Emergency preparedness is part of our ongoing commitment to keeping passengers, staff and our community safe.

There will be no impact to scheduled flights. Thank you for your patience.

🧡 September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This is a day of reflection, learning, and healing, but that work continues year-round.

YFC is committed to strengthening our relationship with Indigenous communities and amplifying Indigenous voices—past, present, and future.

Every day, the YFC teams work to keep the apron and runways clear of debris that could impact aircraft safety. ✈️But once a year during Canadian Airports Safety Week, we come together for a team-wide Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Walk - scanning the apron as a group to remove anything from trash to loose hardware. We keep runways clean, so you travel safe!

Passenger spotlight! 🎶

Harvest Music Festival has brought Ross Neilsen back to Fredericton, and he’s no stranger to the festival. He’s played Harvest many, many times over the years, and this time, he’s also getting to visit his mom.

“Fredericton becomes the festival,” he says. “That’s why it’s such a success. The festival is the attraction, not just the acts. I feel like a lot of people wait all year for this event.”

“I am really excited to see Eddie 9V and JJ Grey. Big fans of both. Lots of other folks playing though, that I love and have been influenced by.”

He’ll be in town for several days, catching up with old friends and making some new ones—and he has one message for everyone: get ready for some hugs!

Catch Ross's performances on Sep 17 and Sep 21, or check out the rest of the lineup here: https://harvestmusicfest.ca/
