On August 14, 1941, the Atlantic Charter was announced to the world following the historic meeting between U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in Placentia Bay.

Meeting aboard warships, the two leaders developed a shared vision for the post-war world based on principles of peace, security, self-determination and international cooperation.

The meeting was also part of a much larger chapter in Argentia’s history.

Its strategic location on the North Atlantic made Argentia an important centre for Allied military operations during the Second World War and, for more than five decades, the site remained closely connected to North American defence and security.

Today, 85 years after the Atlantic Charter, we remember both the significance of that historic meeting and Argentia’s enduring military and defence legacy.

Some incredible shots to mark the departure of the final monopiles from Port of Argentia, bringing a successful offshore wind marshalling campaign to a close.

Over the course of this project, Port of Argentia welcomed, stored and marshalled these massive components for deployment, demonstrating the capability of our infrastructure, our partners and our workforce to support one of the world’s fastest-growing industries.

As North America’s first monopile marshalling port, this project represents an important milestone in the evolution of Port of Argentia as a hub for large-scale industrial and renewable energy projects.

We extend our thanks to our project partners and everyone whose hard work made this operation a success.

Port of Argentia is hiring a Summer Maintenance Student to help keep Port facilities, buildings, and grounds safe, clean, and well maintained throughout the summer.

This hands-on position provides an opportunity to gain experience in general maintenance and groundskeeping, and work alongside skilled tradespeople in a dynamic industrial environment.
