Port of Argentia was pleased to attend today’s State of the Province Address with Premier Tony Wakeham and The Board of Trade.

The Premier highlighted opportunities across energy, ship maintenance and fabrication, power access, and critical minerals.

As Newfoundland and Labrador looks to capitalize on its industrial strengths, Port of Argentia is well positioned to support new investment, infrastructure development, and economic growth.

We look forward to being part of what comes next.

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we take time to reflect, learn and recognize the lasting impacts of residential schools on Indigenous Peoples, families and communities.

Yesterday, our team came together wearing orange to learn more about the significance of this day, including the work taking place here in Newfoundland and Labrador to advance reconciliation.

Reconciliation is an ongoing responsibility.

Another PBIS is in the books!

It was a great two days of conversation and collaboration, bringing together leaders from across industry, government and our communities. That collaboration is essential as we work to build the infrastructure and capacity needed to attract investment, support major projects and drive long-term economic growth across our region.

The Port of Argentia team is deeply saddened by the passing of our colleague and friend, Max Hickey.

Max was a kind and capable teammate who brought his many talents and his personality to his work at the Port. He could fix just about anything and was always generous in sharing his skills and lending a hand. We were fortunate to have his dedication, knowledge and friendship as part of our team.

Max will be deeply missed by his friends at the Port, and we will cherish the memories made with him.

The Port of Argentia Board of Directors and team extend our deepest condolences to Max’s family and friends.

Port offices will be closed Monday morning as our team attends Max’s funeral service.

On August 14, 1941, the Atlantic Charter was announced to the world following the historic meeting between U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in Placentia Bay.

Meeting aboard warships, the two leaders developed a shared vision for the post-war world based on principles of peace, security, self-determination and international cooperation.

The meeting was also part of a much larger chapter in Argentia’s history.

Its strategic location on the North Atlantic made Argentia an important centre for Allied military operations during the Second World War and, for more than five decades, the site remained closely connected to North American defence and security.

Today, 85 years after the Atlantic Charter, we remember both the significance of that historic meeting and Argentia’s enduring military and defence legacy.

Some incredible shots to mark the departure of the final monopiles from Port of Argentia, bringing a successful offshore wind marshalling campaign to a close.

Over the course of this project, Port of Argentia welcomed, stored and marshalled these massive components for deployment, demonstrating the capability of our infrastructure, our partners and our workforce to support one of the world’s fastest-growing industries.

As North America’s first monopile marshalling port, this project represents an important milestone in the evolution of Port of Argentia as a hub for large-scale industrial and renewable energy projects.

We extend our thanks to our project partners and everyone whose hard work made this operation a success.
