I live with celiac too and I want my clients to know I have their back no matter where they're travelling. Each detail is important - down to a list of gluten-free bakeries at each port stop, because treats are important on vacation. 😉

What do I wish more all-inclusive resorts understood?

If they developed REAL protocol for accommodating celiac travellers, they would have the MOST loyal guests who come back again and again.

A lot of these resorts already have gluten-free options in place. It would just take a little more time and a team willing to learn about Celiac, develop a process and stick to it.

Unfortunately, they are terrible at consistency. Hotels change owners like Monopoly, training shifts, staff changes and we’re always chasing a bit of a moving target. Even hotels within the same brand offer a different experience from location to location.

Every week I’m on calls with executive chefs and concierge teams about this exact thing on behalf of my clients.

And what I keep hearing is fear.

Not lack of capability, but fear of promising something they can’t 100% guarantee.

But there’s a concrete business case for them make the effort: in the restaurant industry, the person with the dietary restriction almost always picks where the whole group eats.

Travel works the same way.

Get it right for one celiac traveler, and you’ve earned the business of their entire party. And not just for this trip, but likely for many after it too. We’re a loyal bunch.

This advocacy is a part of my work that no one sees. I bring up celiac awareness with every single supplier, every chance I get (they’re very likely sick of me 😂) because I genuinely believe this accommodation is within reach.

Here is my Disney Cruise Line celiac kid hack…

➡️ Pre-order the allergy-friendly cupcakes so they’re in your room when you arrive on embarkation day.

If you’re a parent of a celiac kid you know that fun food is something your kid has to compromise on all the time:

…They have to bring their own pizza to pizza day.

…They have to skip fries at dinner because they’re not in a dedicated fryer.

…They bring their own cupcake to the birthday party and it doesn’t look the same as everyone else’s.

Not here.

This is why I recommend going ALL OUT on Disney Cruise Line.

They’re a part of all of it, from the moment you arrive.

Disney’s Deluxe resorts are incredible: location, theming, service… all of it.

But if what you’re actually after is true luxury, this is where I look.

“We want a beach resort that’s safe for celiacs.”

Last year I was at a gluten free event and someone mentioned there was a resort celiacs should NEVER stay at. They had a genuinely poor experience, and they were very clear about why it didn’t work for them.

Here’s the interesting part: I’ve had clients stay at the exact same resort and it was a great fit.

So who was right?

Both of them.

Celiac travel isn’t about finding a universally “safe” resort. It’s about expectations: comfort level, dining style, flexibility, and what will make or break a trip for you.

That’s why I don’t give blanket recommendations. I ask detailed questions and match travellers to resorts that align with their needs, not someone else’s.

It's good - but different.
