Heads up! A big change is coming for Europe travel starting October 12, 2025
The European Union is rolling out a new Entry/Exit System (EES) that will replace manual passport stamps for non-EU visitors (including Canadians & Americans).
Here’s what you need to know:
✅ Your fingerprints + facial photo will be collected the first time you cross a Schengen border.
✅ For the first 180 days, passports will still be stamped while the system phases in.
✅ After that, EES will track the 90-day/180-day rule automatically.
✅ Biometric data will be stored for 3 years, so repeat travellers won’t need to redo it.
👉 What do you need to do? Absolutely nothing. Just bring your passport — the process happens at the border. Allow a little extra time the first time you cross after Oct 12.
