Anyone watch last night's Council Meeting? In particular the part where Councilor Coady slightly disrespected Councilor Janes for suggesting that maybe the Town could look for some support in establishing an RNC detachment here in GFW to compliment and protect the citizens of Central Newfoundland .
I believe her words were something to the effect that the two forces do not always co-exist in harmony.
As a retired law enforcement officer who has worked in both Corner Brook & St. John's I know that the two forces are more effective together in a community in the role of protecting and serving. One may be more reactive and the other more pro active but together the goal is the same.
Personally, I would welcome any increase in public protection for our community. These forces coexist in several communities in Newfoundland and Labrador ie: Corner Brook, Pasadena, CBS, Labrador City.
I don't understand her thinking, you would think that whatever it takes to make our community safer woukd be something you would strive for.
Just my opinion but there is an obvious need for more Police officers in our community and the surrounding communities even if its just a traffic unit such as the one recently established on the West Coast by the RNC.
Yes, the Province totally funds the RNC but has GFW not put enough money in the Provincial coffers over the years to rightfully demand more Police resources.
