2026 Battle of the Bases Fish Derby Results

As wildfire season begins to wind down and Labour Day marks a well-earned pause, MAG Aerospace Canada employees continue to demonstrate exceptional dedication in support of our clients, partners, and the communities they serve.

The Battle of the Bases Fish Derby gave employees from Dryden, Sudbury, Buffalo Narrows, and Chapleau a much-needed opportunity to rest, recharge, spend time outdoors, and engage together as a team during off-duty hours. Activities like this help strengthen the camaraderie, relationships, and teamwork that contribute to our success throughout wildfire season.

Congratulations to our winners:

Smallest Fish: Matt Neumann, Sudbury Base, with a 4-inch Rock Bass
Longest Fish: Keith Wrolstad, Dryden Base, with a 37.75-inch Lake Trout
Overall Champion: Dryden Base with 80 points, followed closely by Sudbury Base with 72 points

Inspiring the next generation of aviators at COPA Discover Aviation Day!

MAG Aerospace Canada was proud to support the local COPA chapter's Discover Aviation Day at YSB, where more than 100 kids took to the skies for their very first flight experience.
In addition to sponsoring part of the event, we were excited to display some of our aircraft and connect with families, aspiring pilots, and aviation enthusiasts throughout the day. Events like these play an important role in fostering a passion for aviation and helping young people see what's possible.

A special thank you to Gowyn, Belinda, Ileana, and Dan for representing MAG Aerospace Canada, answering questions, and helping make the day a success. Your dedication and enthusiasm were greatly appreciated!

Today we celebrate this extraordinary nation, its people, its landscapes, and the unwavering spirit that defines what it means to be Canadian.

This Canada Day, our hearts go out especially to the incredible men and women working in the wildfire industry across this country. Season after season, you face some of the most demanding and dangerous conditions imaginable to protect our forests, our communities, and our way of life. The firefighters, aerial crews, pilots, support staff, and emergency responders who show up every single day, we see you, we thank you, and we are honoured to work alongside you.

To the MAG Canada team: your dedication, professionalism, and passion for this mission is something we are truly grateful for. You make this company and this country proud. And to all Canadians, those born here and those who chose to call Canada home, we wish you a safe, joyful, and proud Canada Day.

Behind every successful mission is someone who taught us how to lead one.

Today, we're celebrating all mothers and those across our MAG Aerospace Canada team, the AME's, engineers, pilots, operators, analysts,, administration, support crews and the moms who raised them, supported them, and cheered them on through every takeoff and every landing.

Thank you for being the steady hand on the controls when life gets turbulent. Thank you for showing us what strength, patience, and dedication really look like.

As fellow aviators, MAG Aerospace Canada feels this loss deeply. The aviation community is small, close knit, and built on trust, professionalism, and passion for flight. When tragedy strikes, it echoes through all of us.
We extend our sincerest and most heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of Antoine Forest and Mackenzie Gunther, the two talented pilots who lost their lives in the recent accident at LaGuardia. Their dedication to aviation, their professionalism, and the positive impact they had on those around them will never be forgotten.
To their loved ones, please know that the entire aviation family stands with you during this unimaginably difficult time.
To their fellow crew members and colleagues, we share in your grief and honor the memory of two aviators taken far too soon.
Wishing blue skies and peaceful tailwinds to Antoine and Mackenzie. Your legacy will continue to inspire all who take to the skies.

Today, we join Canadians everywhere in honouring Gunner Sebastian Halmagean, 24, who tragically lost his life while serving on Operation REASSURANCE in Latvia.
Sebastian was on his first overseas deployment. A role he took on with pride, heart, and a strong sense of duty. His family shared that he loved being a soldier, helping others, and representing Canada with everything he had.

To his family, friends, and those who served beside him, we hold you in our hearts.

Rest in peace, Sebastian
