Where were you on September 11, 2001? Were you one of the many Nova Scotians who rushed out to lend a helping hand to stranded travellers? Did you work at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport at the time? Were you a passenger diverted to Halifax on that day?
September 11, 2001, has become a flashbulb memory: almost everyone alive on that day remembers exactly where they were when they heard the terrible news. For Nova Scotians in particular, it showcased how quickly we mobilize in times of tragedy and how prepared we are to deal with emergencies.
At this year’s show, with the generous support of Halifax Stanfield, we will present 9/11: Our Story, an Act I Finale tribute honouring the resiliency of Nova Scotians in the wake of the deadliest terrorist attack in history.
9/11: Our Story will showcase Halifax’s unique role as a place of refuge for thousands of diverted international travellers—an enduring example of compassion, safety, and global connection at the heart of Halifax Stanfield’s legacy.
In the lead-up to the Tattoo, we encourage you to share your stories, photos, and videos in the comments. Your story could be featured in the 2026 Tattoo and shared on our social media feeds in the coming weeks!
This project and scene in the 2026 Tattoo are both proudly supported by Halifax Stanfield.
