Grief. Heartbreak. Emotional distress. These are feelings familiar to many and are moments in life that will test our faith. I know I’m not alone in saying that moments of anguish and loss can make you feel desperate and isolated. I’ve come to realize that in the midst of emotional traumas, travel can be a form of self-help to heal the mind and soul.
▫️
Travel as a form of mental health treatment has been a theory explored and proven to be true time and time again by those who have embarked on a journey and returned with clarity. No; this is not to say that travelling will provide a “cure” or absolve you of reality, but it is definitely a way to step back, distract the mind and stimulate the soul with appreciation!
▫️
Breaking out of a familiar, repetitive routine and stepping outside of your comfort zone can bring about extraordinary changes! Seeing first hand how others live can also help you gain some perspective and view the world differently. If you’re considering a longer trip, culture shock and learning to adapt to change can also be life altering. Travelling has the potential to teach us about patience and appreciation, and allow us to grow and expand our minds beyond our imagination! No matter the distance or destination, a change in scenery and routine can be a healthy step in the direction of healing and finding yourself💫
▫️
So, whether you’re going through a heartbreak or dealing with changes in your life that have proven difficult and draining, why not seize the opportunity and embark on something meaningful?! Consider it your chance to experience that “Eat, Pray, Love” moment🤍The world is vast and, if we allow it, ready to offer us whatever we are seeking🧳🛫
