Memories from a year ago...an epic journey through Portugal...it was our first time ever doing a guided tour. We knew we needed to give this method of travel a try, but what we didn't realize is how much we would both enjoy it.

While we can all DIY our own travel these days with the access to resources on the World Wide Web, exploring with experts who take care of everything is truly a vacation. Things like the type of transportation, accommodation and access to facilities and experiences has all been logistically planned ahead of time for you...that makes sense when you think about guided tours...but the part you may not have considered are the small things that can turn into major stressors during your journey.

Who's going to drive through the roundabout or squeeze your way down the tiny streets of Europe? Do you have all the parking passes/apps on your phone? What if we're running behind, can we just hop on the next train, or is that the last train of the day? What if it's raining the day we planned to explore the botanical gardens, will our pre-paid pass work for another timing and were those passes in an app or PDF?

All the 'what ifs' can turn into disagreement, frustration or even arguments. That's the part that I didn't see until we were being carted around in a protective envelope of expertise like we were back in our glory days of simply following direction like we were in grade school. Remember when you thought adulting was so-much-fun until you became one and you needed to adult every day? Well...here's your ticket.

Take a break from adulting...seriously...and trust in the expertise.
