WestJet announced it has reached a tentative agreement with CUPE LOCAL 8125, the union representing the airline’s cabin crew. WestJet will share further details on the return to operations as they become available.

Passengers scheduled to fly with WestJet are advised to contact the airline directly for the latest flight information.

⚠️Attention YKF passengers⚠️

Starting on or about July 27, 2026, Fountain Street North will be closed at the Fountain Street / Kossuth Road / Fairway Road North roundabout for construction. The closure is expected to last about 10 weeks.

Access to the airport will be maintained throughout construction, but delays are expected. Drivers should use an alternate route and leave extra time to get to the airport.

Alternate route to YKF: Drivers approaching from the south will need to follow the posted signage and take Kossuth Road to Shantz Station Road to Menno Street to gain access to Fountain Street North (partial closure) for airport access and local traffic only.

Please allow extra travel time to get to the airport this summer.

Yesterday, Great Lakes Helicopter Corp marked the groundbreaking of a new hangar facility as part of the second phase of expansion, a major milestone in the organization’s continued growth and long-term vision for aviation in Ontario. The new space, at , will support expanded operations, workforce development, and investment in advanced aviation and aerial technology, building on the group’s strong foundation in pilot training, maintenance, and specialized aviation services.

Today we celebrated National with the amazing teams at ✈️ Airports are so much more than just a place to catch a flight, they are powerful economic engines! Today we're celebrating this massive network of professionals who bring their expertise to work every single day to ensure Canadians are connected to the people, places, and opportunities they need to thrive and grow.

A little piece of history touched down at today. The Avro Lancaster Mk.X stopped in at YKF for a quick refueling while out on a flight today.

The historic aircraft, built in 1945, resides at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton ✈️.
