Our final stop on this tour takes us to the town of Lenno on the shores of Lake Como. With direct ferry links to the towns of Bellagio, Varenna and Menaggio we spent a day exploring each of these distinct towns. Enjoying a meal, a gelato treat or just wandering through the narrow town streets, this was a full and complete day! Not far from our hotel we visited the Villa del Bablionello This elegant, romantic 18th century mansion and its magnificent garden have hosted writers, scholars and travelers, including Count Guido Monzino, the last owner of the Villa. Famous for its terraced gardens and incredible views we were not disappointed!
One last day to enjoy the lake, take one last ferry ride or just relax by the pool we finished off our tour with our group dinner. A wonderful time together! Till next time…… Happy Travels!

A day trip to lake Garda and
the picturesque village of Sirmione, located on a peninsula at the southern end of the lake, was a wonderful treat.
Sirmione is famous for its stunning Scaligero Castle and the unique charm of its old town centre, with its narrow and irregular alleys, its thermal baths and the ruin of a Roman villa.
We travelled by private boat around the peninsula and then across the lake to the medieval town of Lazise. Great views from the water on a beautiful day!
Arriving at its picturesque old port you could see
the six towers of the castle Lazise” , its well preserved
walls and recognize the medieval origin of the city. Lazise has a wonderful old town centre, with narrow alleys and picturesque squares, a harbour set right in the city centre as well as a 14th century Veronese customs office.
Time for a gelato or a stroll in the boardwalk before we head back to Verona

On to Verona,a UNESCO world heritage city and the home of Romeo and Juliet, a place of history, culture, music, and architecture.
We enjoyed our walking tour with our guide Graciano. He explained Verano’s history as well as its great traditions, from Opera to fine food and wine. A cooking class where we made pasta and tiramisu finished off one of days here in the city.

Our first city on our journey through northern Italy is Venice.
Not only were we welcomed with extremely hot weather but the excitement and busyness of the Venice Film Festival. We walked the maze of streets and canals of these pedestrian only islands with our guide. A very hot day finished off with a vaporetto ( water bus) ride back up the grand canal to our hotel. The next day we travelled by boat to the islands of Murano ( famous for its glass) and Burano ( home of hand made lace and colourful buildings) A change to cooler weather greeted us as we next spent a day travelling to the Dolomites, a mountain range in northeastern Italy. A stop in Cortina ( home of the 2026 winter olympics) situated in a valley surrounded by high peaks treated us to breathtaking views and a nice change from the bustling city. Our next stop is Verona.

I have included a few of the Faces of Morocco. A few words about Morocco….. This country is a sensory overload, from the bustling modern cities to villages which take you back in time. We traveled from the seashore to the mountains and into the desert. The people here are most welcoming and eager to please and sharing mint tea is almost a ritual of welcome.
Family is central to Moroccan life. Respect for elders, hospitality, and strong community ties are highly valued.
We highly recommend a visit to this extraordinary country!
Until next time…… Happy travels!

Our last leg of the journey took us over the high Atlas mountains with a stop at an ancient fortified Kasbah elevation 1300 meters. Now only inhabited by four families. This well preserved fortification and INESCO site is used for small shops and corporatives selling hand made products
After our arrival in Marrakesh we enjoyed a walking tour in the Medina which included a walk through the winding streets and alleys filled with souks(a marketplace consisting of multiple small stalls or shops). At the center is The Jemaa el-Fnaa the main square and the most important part of the medina, including dancers, musicians and snake-charmers, this chaotic plaza is the beating heart of Marrakech

We next visit the 300 year old Kasbah( a traditional North African fortified fortress or citadel) where we learned about the ancient traditions of Kasbah life.
We travelled along the road of 1000 Kasbahs to the town of Ouarzazate. Here we were treated to a tour of Atlas studios, the largest film studio in Africa home to many famous movies. . We too became “stars “ in our own mini movie! Our overnight was spent in a beautiful country Riad… priceless !!

As we leave the Sahara we are privileged to stop and have tea with a nomadic Berber family. A loving family, living in a simple dwelling totally off grid. Another wonderful experience…. We next moved on to the Todra Gorge known as Morocco’s Grand Canyon with its vertical cliffs that reach heights of 1000 ft and beyond that The Dadès Gorge with its winding roads, “monkey finger” rock formations, and red-rock scenery.
