We recently partnered with Eagle Eyes Search to trial drone technology for airport fence and runway inspections.

The drones helped identify potential fencing and runway issues, including damage, surface wear, drainage concerns, and possible wildlife entry points. Thermal scanning was also used to detect hidden weak spots not visible during standard inspections.

We are celebrating The Flying Seven at YNJ. These 1930s aviators didn't just fly; they broke barriers, defied gravity, and redefined what was possible for women in the sky and beyond.

Their legacy is immortalized in the “Come Fly with Me” mural, located on the north end of the airport building. This mural is a tribute to these pioneers who proved that the sky was never a limit, but a beginning. To the trailblazers who paved the way and the women who continue to inspire us to reach for the stars, we salute you.

that a single crane in the wrong spot can bring our entire airfield to a standstill?

At YNJ, safety is our top priority. If you are planning a heavy lift or a new development near the airport, here is how to keep our skies clear and safe:

➡️ If you are within a 4 kilometre radius of the airport, ensure you are under the maximum allowable height of 177 feet Above Sea Level (ASL), or lower if your site sits within the approach path of one of our runways.

➡️ Notify the Airport Office immediately during your planning phase.

➡️ Submit an Aeronautical Assessment Form (AAF) to Transport Canada and a Land Use Application to Nav Canada for approval (typically takes 30 to 90 days).

➡️ After approvals, maintain direct communication with the Airport Office to synchronize your work schedule with active airfield operations.
