Public Notice – Town of Leader

The Town of Leader has been notified of a fuel spill into the South Saskatchewan River near Medicine Hat. Based on current information, the affected water is expected to reach our water intake on Sunday.

At this time, the Town reservoir is full, and we will not need to draw water from the river until the contamination has safely passed our intake.

We are continuing to work closely with the Water Security Agency to monitor the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available.

The safety of our water supply remains our top priority, and we appreciate the community’s understanding.

If you are the owner, please contact the office as soon as possible to arrange pickup. You have 72 hours to claim your cat.

After this time, further action may be taken in accordance with local bylaws.

Residents in the 100–300 blocks of 2nd St W (even numbers) and 3rd St W (odd numbers) are advised of a scheduled power outage:

🔧 Reason: System Maintenance

While crews are in town replacing power poles, residents are encouraged to check the SaskPower Outage Map regularly in case additional outages are posted. The Town of Leader is not directly informed of these outages.
