Whether we like it or not September is basically here and although we still have 3 months until the ferry calls it quits for the winter, things are certainly starting to wind down. I’m not sure how many more worthwhile trips I will be making back to the mainland between now and the beginning of December so I wanted to get this out there now so that we can try to plan accordingly.
We’ve had many inquiries about whether we will be open during the winter. The answer to that is yes, but only in a similar capacity as we were last winter, we don’t want to be the Co-op. At this time we have no intention of restocking product throughout the winter, instead we can try to stock up on stuff before hand and when we run out, we’re out until the boat starts again.
With that said if anyone has things that they would like us to attempt to carry through the winter, or has anything they would like to stock up on from our store before the boat stops, send us an email, give us a call, text us if you have one of our numbers, or pop in the store and talk to Bernie or I and we will see what we can do.
If there is big enough demand I can maybe put together a quick “order sheet” type thing if needed. Some examples of products that we can get that should last through most, if not all of the winter before they reach their best before dates are:
* 1.5L bottled milk (1%, 2%, Homo, Lactose free, Chocolate)
* Bricks of cheese
* “American” cheese type slices
* Butter (salted and unsalted)
* Margarine
* Cream Cheese
* Covered Bridge Chips
* Covered Bridge Popcorn
* Cedar Valley Pita Chips
* Uncle Rays Chips
* Shaws 1.5L Ice Cream Tubs
* Nestle 1.5L Ice Cream Tubs
* Haagen Dazs Ice Cream
* Nestle Multi-Pack Ice Cream Bars/Cones & Popsicles
* Chapmans 11.4L Ice Cream Tubs
* 2L Bottled pop (Coke products, and Faygo products)
* Chop Shop burgers, sausages, and whatever else you would like from there
* Brenner’s Hot Dogs
* Oven 360 Frozen Pizza’s
* Lakeside Packing Pickles, Beets, Salsa, etc.
We will also do our best to make sure that the store is fairly stocked with convenience store type items - chocolate bars, candy, single serve bottles of pop, cases of bottled water (not sure if anyone would want that), some of the basic non-perishable grocery items that we carry, single serve/grab ’n’ go ice creams, over the counter medications and related items, pepperoni, salami, jerky, and whatever else we can think of that seems reasonable.
If anyone has any suggestions or other requests please don’t hesitate to let us know. The sooner the better so that I can get it on the few orders that we will have left to place with our suppliers this season!
