Happy Twosday! I've decided to upload all our old trips to YouTube because when I first did them, they didn't allow licensed music. And for our first trip together (way back in 2010), this one was pretty epic (though back then I didn't take much video so this is basically a long slideshow lol). It was my first time to the Caribbean, Bryan's first time in the Carib away from all-inclusive resorts, our first time scuba diving, our first time at a n**e beach (we snuck a photo of us at 1:08), the first time we were mistaken for brothers (actually twins!). BUT it wasn't the first time that people were surprised to find out that we're gay! Go to 7:53 for the hilarious Australian and that story.
And a little side story, we had wanted to go to Saba as well which is fairly close to St. Maarten, but the docks had been damaged and the boats weren't active, and the planes also weren't being scheduled when we had left. BUT when we landed we tried again and managed to book a flight (just a 15 minute flight to the shortest runway in the world). And we're so glad we did. People rarely go to Saba as there are really no beaches since it's basically a big 13 square kilometre volcano with a population of less than 2,000. But it's a major diving destination as a 40 m dive is accessible very close to shore (and thus was our first and honestly pretty scary first dive ever). It also has gorgeous hiking and one of the best places we've ever stayed in the ecolodge (just a step above camping, and it was awesome).
So this was the beginning of our love for the Caribbean, and we can't wait to go back. Seeing the planes land at Maho Beach was a big bucket list moment too! If you have any questions about it please let us know!
