is a joint venture between two Muskoka based family owned and operated bus lines, Hammond Transportation Ltd. and Campbell Bus Lines.
“We are very excited to be working together in the City of Kawartha Lakes” said company President Dean Campbell. Secretary Treasurer Greg Hammond agreed, adding that “the new business is an extension of our commitment to serving Trillium Lakelands District School B
oard and its students. We are pleased to be able to serve the Kawartha Lakes area and that our staff here are residents of the community.”
Kawartha Lakes Bus Lines will service many of the TLDSB routes formerly served by First Student. “The Kawartha Lakes Bus Lines will operate 60 routes in this area” pointed out Campbell. The new operation has hired drivers, staff and mechanics who previously worked for First Student so that they know the area and the schools that they will serve. We are pretty fortunate that we have been able to hire many of the former drivers, so students and parents will have the same bus driver that they are used to” he said. Besides operating school bus routes, Kawartha Lakes Bus Lines buses will be available for charter bus service in the area too. The new bus line is operating from their facility at 123 Walsh Rd., Lindsay. Even though Kawartha Lakes Bus Lines is a new company, it has long roots in the transportation business. 2014 is a significant year for both the Campbell and Hammond companies as Hammond Transportation Ltd. is celebrating 70 years in business since it was founded by 14 year old Orvil Hammond (Greg Hammond’s father) in 1944 and Campbell Bus Lines Ltd. is celebrating 60 years in business since it was established by Elwood Campbell (Dean Campbell’s grandfather) in 1954. Campbell Bus Lines provides school bus and transit services in the Huntsville/Lake of Bays and Muskoka area. Hammond Transportation has operations in Simcoe County, Muskoka and Parry Sound providing school bus, motorcoach and charter bus, transit, bus routes and limousine services. Both companies operate school bus routes in Muskoka for Trillium Lakelands District School Board. Both the Campbell and Hammond family businesses share a commitment to the communities that they serve. “We plan to operate as a family business providing safe, professional school bus service” said Hammond.
