It’s been a while since I’ve given an update on the Bertram 42 project. I’ve got the cockpit framework completed and am almost done fitting the Coosa Board deck. I’m trying to get things done before it gets too cold, I’m working in an unheated storage building for this one.

If the paper lines up you’ll have a line you can cut to and you’ll end up with a square end (assuming you cut to the line of course).

I picked up an O’Day Tempest for myself. I like the look of the boat, classic looking topsides with a little more modern shape below the waterline. It needs work but the price was right and I’m hoping to be able to take the family sailing and slowly restore the boat as time and budget allows.

I found an old repair to the keel that needed to be redone while I was prepping for new bottom paint. Apparently someone had a run in with a rock.

The core for the seat hatches in the cockpit was rotten so I removed the old balsa core and vacuum bagged a new foam core in. They’re much stiffer now.
