Trot In Time Carriage Tours Ltd.

Trot In Time Carriage Tours Ltd. Tours run daily May to October in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. We hope to see you on a tour soon! Our churches are some of the oldest in North America.

Your 35-minute tour leaves from the waterfront and goes up to the top of our beautiful town and down again via a different route. We weave our way back and forth through the streets of Lunenburg so the horses can avoid the steep hills. The town of Lunenburg has more than three hundred historic homes dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Lunenburg Academy, our famous "castle-on-the-hill" scho

ol, dates back to 1895 and the view from its location is absolutely breathtaking. Our drivers' commentary will keep you on the edge of your seat with all sorts of historical and community information. But we have the most fun sharing legends and special stories. Your satisfaction is always guaranteed. The tour is very laid back. It is not uncommon to meet some of the local folks along the way and, from time to time, they too will have a story to tell. We are so proud that people often describe our tour as a "must do" activity - for both visitors and locals! Please join us for fun and memories you won't soon forget. We welcome the opportunity to be your guide to our wonderful town of Lunenburg.

This is a great chance for locals and tourists alike to learn more about early Lunenburg!

Tomorrow, June 08, marks the 273rd anniversary of the first contingent of Military soldiers, British officials and Foreign Protestant settlers setting foot on the shoreline of what we now call Lunenburg; itself only given the new name less than two weeks previous. These hearty Europeans built for themselves a strong vibrant community that would become famous the World over for many reasons, and still celebrated today. As a result, the 11am and 2pm tours on Monday, 08 June will be free of charge. This is a great opportunity to come out and learn about the people who built and upheld this wonderful community.

This Founders' Day (June 7) come learn about the settlement of Lunenburg at the Knaut-Rhuland House Museum !
The museum will be open 11am to 5pm with costumed interpreters, rhubarb punch, and cookies. Admission by donation.
At the Knaut-Rhuland House Museum, you can see how Benjamin Knaut, Conrad Rhuland, and other Lunenburg settlers would have lived and entertained between the 1790s and the early twentieth century.
At 11:30am and 2:30pm, join our curator and historian Jay Lalonde for a guided walk to Rous Brook, where the first settlers landed in 1753.
The walk is about 1.6 km on mostly flat, paved terrain, and takes between 1hr and 1hr 15 minutes.

We are open for our 30th season, and we are so glad to be back in Lunenburg with our big boys, telling the history of this amazing town, sharing our love of the amazing animals we have the good fortune of working with, and inflicting corny jokes on unsuspecting tourists and locals alike! This year got off to an interesting start with a very late spring (farmers will understand), new town bylaws (business owners will understand), and a cancer diagnosis and two surgeries this year to date for our CEO, Mary (hopefully everyone will understand). So apologies if we’ve been a bit less responsive than we’d like!

We would like to note a change to our operating hours. In 2026, we will not be open on Sundays, except for special events. This will enable us to put another wagon on the road on busy days without having our horses, drivers, or management working too hard. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this might cause!

Have a wonderful 2026 everyone!
