Let's talk windows
Different choices:
- Regular clear plastic
- Strataglass clear plastic
- Polycarbonates
- Tempered glass
Regular clear plastic is what you'll find on 80% of boats. Very clear product but has no UV coating, they do add chemicals that will help against UV breakdown.
Strataglass is a soft plastic that has a UV coating to protect it. Strata will last a long time out in the sun. The price difference is the reason you will see 80% of boats with regular plastic. Many boaters may consider simply getting the front window done with strataglass.
Polycarbonates are the hard plastics that you can't roll. There are 2 different types; the best and most expensive is a coated plastic that is scratch and UV resistant (very clear plastic), the second is a less expensive UV coated but not scratch resistant plastic. These windows do have their limitations on where they can be installed.
Tempered glass is that front window that you will usually see with a wiper on a flybridge. Expensive but it's the only way you can do the wiper.
