MiRiver

MiRiver fam… Before you grab your keys today… take 10 seconds to open the MiRiver App.

Someone in Miramichi and the surrounding areas might be looking for a ride to the exact place you’re already headed (or somewhere on the way), whether that’s work, an appointment in town, groceries, or a trip down the highway. You could be the reason a neighbour gets where they need to go today.

And let’s be honest about gas prices right now ⛽ Filling up in New Brunswick has been brutal, and most of us are making the same drives every week anyway, often with empty seats beside us. MiRiver’s carpooling hub was built so riders help cover a trip you were already making, and that keeps more money in the pockets of New Brunswickers.

MiRiver is especially handy for NBCC students heading to and from campus, and for anyone who makes the regular drive to Moncton, Fredericton, Halifax or beyond. Those longer trips are where an empty seat costs the most, and where sharing the drive really adds up. Whether you’re a student heading home for the weekend, travelling for an appointment in the city, or making your usual run down the highway, there’s a good chance someone else is going the same way 💙

Calling all drivers! 📣 Your neighbours are looking for a ride.

Ride requests are coming in through the MiRiver app for trips to Moncton, Halifax, and everywhere in between. Now we need drivers who are already making those trips and have an empty seat.

Your riders help cover the cost of a drive you were already making (and let’s be real.. these gas prices are INSANE) and that seat could be what gets someone to an appointment, a job, or home to family.

Watch the reel for a quick step-by-step on offering a seat.

Download MiRiver free on the App Store and Google Play, and check the ride requests before your next trip.

Heads up, Miramichi: Highway 117 between Nelson and Chatham is currently CLOSED due to a motor vehicle accident.

If you’re travelling in the area, help your community by reporting in MiRiver as conditions change. Whether traffic is backing up, moving again, or the route has cleared — your report helps the next driver know what to expect. 💙

Stay safe, Miramichi- and keep each other informed. 📍

𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐏𝐎𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐆𝐎𝐓 𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐄𝐑!

We’ve had a lot of questions since we launched the Carpooling Hub this week, and most of them come down to the same thing: 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬?

Fair question. Here’s the honest answer.

It works the same way the big ride apps do. You know the ones. Same idea, same tech, same safeguards- the difference is this one was built for Miramichi instead of Toronto. You post a route or find one going your way. That’s it.

𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙚𝙙. Drivers submit a real photo of themselves and get reviewed before they can post a single ride. No photo, no ride. Passengers are verified too. You know who’s picking you up, and they know who’s getting in the car.

𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙪𝙡𝙚𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠. Before each trip- not once when you sign up, every single time- both the driver and the passenger check off the ride rules. Everybody agrees to the same expectations before anyone turns a key.

𝙋𝙖𝙮𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙚𝙣𝙙. Your card details never touch us and never go to the driver. Payments run through Stripe, the same processor behind a huge chunk of the apps already on your phone. Nobody’s handing cash across the console or e-transferring a stranger.

𝙍𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙠𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙞𝙩 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚. Drivers are rated after rides. Good drivers build a reputation. The ones who don’t, don’t stick around.

𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙨𝙩-𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖 𝙛𝙖𝙧𝙚. Drivers are splitting the cost of a drive they were already making, and as seats fill, everyone pays less.

The MiRiver Carpooling Hub is officially open 🎉— connect with people already heading your way, whether that’s work, school, an appointment in town, or a run to Moncton. Same idea as the big rideshare apps, built right here for Miramichi.

𝐀 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞:

𝗣𝘂𝘀𝗵 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱. If you have them turned on, you’ll only get alerted when heavy traffic gets reported — and they’re capped now, so your phone isn’t going off all day. That one was a long time coming, and we heard you.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁. Fresh start each week, which sets us up to run weekly reporting contests down the road. Your lifetime report count isn’t going anywhere — it still lives on your profile.

Make sure you’ve got the latest version from the App Store or Google Play, and go have a look at the Carpooling Hub. Built by the community, for the community.

IT’S HERE 🎉

MiRiver phase 2 is officially launched and our carpooling hub is live!

The short version: you post where you’re headed, or you find someone already going that way, and you split the cost of the drive. Moncton for an appointment. Work in Chatham. Home from the rink. A run into the city for groceries.

We took our time on this one. A lot of starting over. Because we weren’t putting a ride-share feature out in this town unless the safety side was airtight first.

So here’s exactly how it works:

🔒 You see who you’re riding with before you book — name, photo, verification check.

🔒 Driver and passenger both sign off on the ride rules before every single trip. Not once. Every time.

🔒 No cash changes hands. Payments run through Stripe, the same company handling payments for a lot of the apps already on your phone.

🔒 The cost is set by the app, split between everyone riding. It’s neighbours sharing a drive, not a taxi service.

You already know how these apps work. You’ve used them in Moncton, in Halifax, in Toronto. The difference is this one was built here, for the roads you actually drive, by people who drive them too.

No more waiting on a cab that may or may not show. No more paying city prices to get across town. More cars off the road mean you get to where you need to be faster.

Miramichi has never had anything like this.
Now we do.

Post a ride. Find a ride. Split the cost.
