The Great Bear Rainforest is one of those places you feel more than you describe. This journey takes you into a stretch of coast where fjords, old-growth forest, and wildlife-rich waters all meet. You’ll travel by small ship through channels and inlets, stopping to explore by Zodiac, kayak, and on foot when conditions allow.

Watch for humpbacks and orcas moving through the sounds. Spend time in the rainforest beneath cedar and spruce. With local guidance, you may even travel into spirit bear territory. Along the way, time with Indigenous hosts offers a deeper understanding of the relationships that shape this coast, from stewardship to daily life.

Nothing here is rushed. The route, the landings, even the pace of the days are shaped by weather, wildlife, and the place itself. This is a quieter kind of expedition. One that asks you to slow down and pay attention.

Haida Gwaii isn’t a place you rush through.

This journey moves slowly, by ship and shore, through an archipelago where rainforest meets ocean and culture is part of the landscape.

You’ll travel from Vancouver to the remote coast of Haida Gwaii, spending time in places like SGang Gwaay, Windy Bay, and Gwaii Haanas, where Haida history and presence are felt in the land itself. Walk beneath old-growth cedar and spruce. Watch for whales moving through the channels. Step ashore at village sites where stories, memory, and knowledge are still carried forward.

Throughout the journey, Haida voices and perspectives help shape the experience, offering a deeper understanding of this place and the responsibility that comes with visiting it. This is a different kind of expedition. Slower, more intentional, and shaped by the place itself.

A great day at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection with members of the Adventure Canada team, exploring the stories, landscapes, and history that continue to inspire our voyages today.

Thank you to John Geoghegan for such an insightful tour through both the permanent collection and special exhibitions, from iconic Group of Seven works to extraordinary Inuit art. It was especially meaningful as we look ahead to our upcoming expedition retracing the Arctic journeys of A.Y. Jackson and Lawren Harris, nearly 100 years later.

We also loved hearing stories shared throughout the day, including memories from one of our local guides who travelled on one of Adventure Canada’s very first expeditions in 1987 with Matthew Swan, and revisiting the enduring mystery surrounding Tom Thomson’s death.

A wonderful reminder of how deeply art, history, landscape, and storytelling are connected in Canada.

From ancient cedar forests to coastal cities shaped by centuries of exchange, this is a different kind of expedition.

Our new Discover the Islands of Japan journey in 2027 explores the connections between culture, landscape, and daily life, from Osaka to Yakushima, Nagasaki, and beyond, with a day in South Korea along the way.

Walk through ancient forests, spend time in places with real history, and see traditions that are still part of everyday life. It’s all about contrast and connection.

It doesn’t look like much at first. Just stone walls, standing alone in a quiet Greenland fjord. But Hvalsey holds one of the last known chapters of the Norse story here.

This church was built in the 14th century and is now one of the best preserved Norse ruins in Greenland. In 1408, a wedding was held inside these walls, the last written record of the Norse settlements before they disappeared from Greenland entirely.

Standing here, it’s not dramatic. It’s quiet. Wind, water, and the sense that something ended here, even if we don’t fully know how or why. You’re looking at one of the most remote edges of medieval Europe, and one of its biggest unanswered questions.

Some places stay quiet. Ilulissat doesn’t.

Here, the ice moves, cracks, and shifts constantly, huge bergs breaking off the glacier and filling the fjord with sound and motion. It’s one of the most active ice systems in the Northern Hemisphere, and you can feel it.

You walk out along the boardwalk, past tundra and old settlement sites, and suddenly you’re looking out over a landscape that’s always changing. No two moments are the same. It’s not just something you see, it’s something you hear, and something you feel.

This piece captures that experience, what it’s like to spend time in a place where the ice both whispers and thunders.

This Earth Day, we’re sharing a closer look at how we’re thinking about impact at Adventure Canada. We recognize that expedition travel comes with responsibility. That means being honest about our footprint and taking steps to improve how we operate.

Our latest Sustainability & Impact Report highlights progress across our operations, from emissions reductions to representation on our expedition teams. This is ongoing work, and an important step forward.
