The moving season has ended and now the work is all but gone. Montreal has undergone some significant changes which are posing a serious challenge to the moving industry. Gone are the days of cheap rents allowing people to shift apartments easily. Now the process for renting is harder and the places far too expensive. Thousands of individuals are homeless not being able to meet these stricter criteria. I have had my company since 1997 and this is the first time that I doubt its continued survival. Google has changed its algorithm and they are pretty much the only way that clients get to find companies that they need. If you don't pay for the placement on Maps, you get pushed down. It's is and always has been about money. I survived to a large extent this year on repeat clients and I thank all of you for calling on me once more. It's funny how life can just force a reality on you whether or not you are ready to accept it. I thought I'd be doing this for a few more years but now I must prepare for another possibility. What that is exactly I am unsure. There are no guarantees in life, not even after having worked really hard for the last 27 years. In a matter of mere moments and through events that are removed and barely understood, everything can just disappear.
