Andrea's Handmade Accessories

Hello, my name is Carolina and I would like to tell you briefly why and how I started crocheting and then decided to start my own small business . After spending years trying to find the best way to make money to be able to pay the bills and provide for my daughter, given that I am a single mother and that due to some recent health related problems I have been facing lately, I was forced to leave my job as a health care provider for seniors in 2012. One day as I was looking at my daughter Andrea, who was crocheting a blanket for her best friend’s daughter, and idea popped in my head “ what if we could start our own small business making handmade crochet accessories ? “ and then I began to wonder “ would I be able to learn to crochet? “ since at that time I only knew the basics of crocheting and I must admit that I tend to doubt myself a little when it comes to trying something new. But I sometimes surprised myself of the things I’m capable of doing. A few days later I went and bought a few balls of yarn and a crochet needle and decided to try it out and decided to make a scarf.. One day a very close friend of mine came to visit and she found me in my living room when I was about to finish my scarf. When I showed it to her she wouldn’t stop complementing my work, and she was amazed by how unique the scarf looked. At first, I thought that maybe she was just saying it to make me feel good. But she kept reassuring me that she was truly impressed and so finally believed her. That day I decided that I would continue making more scarves because I really wanted to master the art of crocheting, and for many days I spent most of my time doing so. After I had made 9 scarves, my friend convinced me that I should showed them to other people and to start selling them. At that time I was still not feeling very confident about my work because it was something completely new to me and I am perfectionist and I always want to do thing in the best way possible. But finally I decided to listen to her and packed all my scarves and decided to go visit a friend to her office and I knew that there would be a lot of women there and it was also the beginning of winter, so it seemed like the perfect place to go. To my disbelief, that day I sold every single scarf I had made!..........I was so surprised but thrilled at the same time that all the women in that office liked my work and that they were literally fighting over who wanted which scarf, it was a great feeling and it really boosted my confidence to continue making and improving my work. After that day at my friend’s office I began to receive phone calls from her coworkers to whom I had given my contact information and they were asking me for more scarves. And that was the day that it all started happening for me, thanks to the positive vibes of my daughter and my friend as well as the positive feedback from my clients who filled me with confidence and a sense of security to take on this new adventure. My number one priority is to customer satisfaction and make sure that they are happy with their products, seeing the smiles on their faces when they look at what they ordered for the first time is priceless. My goal is to continue growing and add more and more designs to satisfy everyone’s unique style. Most importantly, the success and future of my business lies entirely in the hands of my customers whom I value greatly.
