Tidal Transit Authority

Tidal Transit Authority We are a municipally owned public transit system serving the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia since 1981.

Our friendly team will get you from Grand Pre to Weymouth and everywhere in between!

Springtime in the Annapolis Valley means construction season, and unfortunately that means delays for transit too.

Tidal Transit operates as one connected straight line system, with buses meeting throughout the day to help passengers make connections across the region. Because of that, delays caused by construction, accidents, or detours on one route can affect the entire network.

Our drivers and dispatch team work hard every day to keep passengers moving safely and make sure riders can still get where they need to go. We don't want to be an hour behind schedule, because we know how important it is to get you where you're going on time. To fix the chronic delays, we're launching a new schedule on August 4th to help avoid traffic issues in the future.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate another construction season together.

A few weeks ago some family and friends came to the depot in New Minas on a rainy Saturday morning to plant some springtime hope. Our big south facing windows are perfect for growing and our seedlings are looking great!

We’ll be planting edible crops this summer for staff and riders to harvest - stay tuned for updates about what’s in season!

We have some exciting changes coming!

You'll notice the transition to our new name on social media in the next few days. It's a big deal to change our identity, but it's an important one!

We've received lots of great questions lately, so we'll try to answer them here:

1. Why are you changing from Kings Transit to Tidal Transit?

For the last 40+ years, Kings Transit has been owned by Kings County, and the towns of Wolfville, Berwick, and Kentville. In June 2025, our ownership structure changed and added Annapolis County, the Municipality of the District of Digby, and the Town of Town Of Middleton to the team. Our new name reflects a shared commitment to improve public transit, the many communities that we serve, and our special coastal reputation.

2. How is Tidal Transit making the system better?

This year we're focused on getting the basics right!

⭐ We're redesigning the schedule to make sure we get riders where they're going - ON TIME! Population growth and increased traffic have impacted how our buses move, so we need to adapt! Our new schedule will launch on August 4th - so stay tuned for important updates!

✨ We're making it easier to use the system by installing over 900 new bus stop signs, a new transfer station in Cornwallis Park, and 25 bus shelters across the system - all thanks to funding from the Government of Canada's Rural Transit Solution Fund, as well as the Nova Scotia Government, and our municipal owners.

☀️ We're ordering new hybrid-electric buses to replace our many old diesel buses - thanks again to the Government of Canada, the Nova Scotia Government, and our municipal owners.

💫We're updating and improving our onboard technology! Our onboard camera systems, bus tracking, and digital fares have all been receiving special attention and updates to make riding our buses easier and safer for everyone.

We're looking forward to a bright future for public transit across the Annapolis Valley! A very big thank you goes out to our Bus Operators, Mechanics, and Operations team for their incredible dedication and tenacity.

Thank you to our municipal owners for your shared vision and investments to improve rural public transit. We know we have lots of work to do, and we're thankful to have your support and leadership!

Last, but certainly not least: Thank you to our incredible riders that chose to ride the bus daily, weekly, or monthly. It is our continued privilege to serve and get you safely to your destination!

If you have any other questions, please email [email protected] and we'll be happy to help!
