🚨 The Toronto Region Board of Trade has revealed shocking on the impact of congestion in our region, in partnership with Ipsos in Canada.

Among the findings:
86% believe there is a traffic and congestion crisis.
85% agree it negatively impacts the economy.
42% avoid shopping, entertainment, or sporting events due to congestion.
31% avoid visiting family and friends.
59% report reduced productivity at work because of commuting time.
53% have contemplated leaving the region.

In the Pearson Economic Zone many businesses are experiencing labour shortages and are faced with critical challenges to recruit and retain workers due to transit challenges.

The TBOT hosted the Gateway to Growth Summit to explore and discuss how the Zone and on-site workers can be supported with efficient commute solutions.

It is important for leaders to be proactive in advocacy for the betterment of their community💡

To mark the upcoming six-month milestone for the Northumberland Commuter Connect transit service, County Warden Mandy Martin and Deputy Warden Brian Ostrander boarded took the opportunity to ride the shuttle bus service in Colborne to commute to the County Council meeting in Cobourg. MPP Piccini was on-hand to greet the commuters as they disembarked at the Northumberland Mall bus stop.

Alongside the Commuter Connect operators and partners, Officials took this opportunity to provide an update on the year-long pilot initiative, including recent ridership data that points to continued growth of this innovative service.

Thank you MPP David Pacinni, Warden Mandy Martin and Deputy Warden Brian Outstrander for being a part of the growth of Commuter Connect in Northumberland County.
