Beam Paints started when I wanted to reconnect with the way my father taught me to make paints when I was a kid, and pass that knowledge down to my sons. Image 1: My dad, artist Carl Beam, making paints in the 80’s on the hood of our blue station wagon. 2: Him with a bowl he made with gathered clay and pigments and me in the background 3. Me in the middle of it all, learning traditional knowledge as physical everyday part of life. 4. Me in the paint shop, my fathers paint studio built with adobe earth bricks, now making paints for the artists of the world.

Hi friends, in yesterday’s stream, I painted abstract flowers on a postcard that will be my entry for their Art Mail campaign. I picked up my postcard set from - you can get yours at participating stores if you’re interested in putting your art out into the world. I’m excited to see my postcard travel to the UK and be part of an exhibit.

cyanotype + Beam Paints + Oliver!

I made a set of Ollie-themed cyanotype negatives so I could fill his face with wildflowers and keep his adorable irregular stripe and snip markings. Tinted with watercolours for some extra pizazz (and because you can never have too much sparkle✨️).

Oliver was a lovely model despite the flies trying to eat him this afternoon. Swipe to the end for our best outtake shot!

Remaining calm and centered in the mist of chaos whether it be from my mind or from external situations is something I’m proud I have learned . When we look deeper in ourselves we can discover so much . I do this through meditation, miigwetch
