Pairing a Mercury 115 HP FourStroke with a 9.9 ProKicker is a reliable mid-power configuration for West Coast boating.

This dual-engine setup is a latest upgrade done on a boat at Alberni Power & Marine Repowering Centre.

Built on a 2.1L inline-4 platform, the Mercury 115 HP FourStroke delivers

โ˜‘๏ธ A high-displacement powerhead, 35 amps alternator for quick acceleration & improved performance

โ˜‘๏ธ An optional Command Thrust gearcase allows the engine to turn larger props โ€” improving lift, acceleration, and low-speed handling

For trolling precision, the 9.9 HP Mercury ProKicker utilizes a deeper gearcase and a custom-matched, high-thrust, four-blade propeller to maintain exact speed authority. The powerhead is balanced on soft-rubber mounts to isolate vibration away from the boat, and it includes power tilt as a standard feature to eliminate manual straining when stowing or deploying the motor.

Together, the setup separates roles clearly โ€” main engine for running, kicker for precise trolling.
