A little update from me as things start to pick up in anticipation of winter! ☀️✈️

As many can probably relate, this season of life is keeping me pretty busy- kids, sports, work and leaving time for some fun! I’ve been thinking about how I can best serve my clients while still maintaining the level of service I want to provide.

For the upcoming winter travel season, I’ll be putting most of my focus on sun destinations — think Mexico, the Caribbean, and all those warm-weather escapes we start dreaming about as soon as the temperatures drop! 🌴 This includes groups-friends, family, whatever the situation. I love helping your trips make it out of the group chat.

By narrowing my focus a bit, I’ll be able to stay on top of the resort updates, promotions, and destination knowledge, while giving my clients the attention they deserve.

That said, if you’re planning a different type of trip, please still reach out! There’s a good chance I can help, and if it’s outside my area of focus, I’m happy to connect you with another travel advisor who may be a great fit.

🚨‼️The true cost won’t show up in a budget line—it will be measured in lives lost and in the lasting mental impact on firefighters forced to stand by when they could have saved someone. That cost will far outweigh any initial savings.

This meeting is happening today. We need council to hear that we are not willing to dismantle a system that works and saves lives.

There is a Special City Council Meeting today focused on Emergency Health Services (EHS) and Red Deer’s integrated firefighter/ambulance model.

I expect much of this meeting will take place in closed session, as it involves contract discussions.

Here’s what is available on the public agenda:

* A report on the EHS Emergency Medical Services Service Delivery Contract
* A scheduled closed session to discuss negotiations and contract details

Some important context:

* Red Deer currently operates an integrated Fire/EMS model, where firefighter-paramedics respond on both fire trucks and ambulances
* The Province is moving toward a standardized funding model that may not fully cover the cost of maintaining this integrated system
* Council will need to decide how to respond as the current agreement approaches expiry

My take:

I strongly support Red Deer’s integrated firefighter/ambulance model. In my opinion, it provides a higher level of service, better response times, and more flexibility in how emergency calls are handled.

I also support Council pushing back on this.

In my view, EHS is being short-sighted here. Trying to save money by forcing a different model may ultimately cost more in the long run, and more importantly, could impact service levels in a way that affects people when they need help the most.

The food and drinks on were excellent! Our glasses were never empty and they were incredibly accommodating with allergies, or if you’re just a little picky like me 😉 Everything pictured on these food and drink menus is included with the cost of the trip.

Day 3 aboard took us from Moab to Salt Lake City where we ended our journey. Lots more beautiful and interesting scenery and stories along the way. We had a huge crew welcoming us at the platform at Salt Lake as this was the first train of the season and the inaugural trip for this route. 🚂

Day 2 aboard had us leaving from Glenwood Springs this morning around 9:00 and we travelled for around 7 hours. We crossed the state line into Utah to end up in Moab. Followed the Colorado river for a lot of the day and even went through a section with the nickname ‘Moon River’ where rafters are known to moon passerby in the train. Yes I did see a moon 😂 In Moab now for the evening and will depart for Salt Lake City late tomorrow morning 🚂
