As summer starts to wind down, we're saying goodbye to our summer student at YQF!

Over the past few months, Taliyah has had the opportunity to experience the many moving parts that keep an airport running while supporting our team throughout a busy summer season.

From helping with marketing initiatives for the Red Deer Regional Airshow and Girls In Aviation Day to organizing community events and administration tasks, we're grateful for the time, energy, and enthusiasm Taliyah brought to YQF.

For more than seven decades, the Red Deer Flying Club has been part of Central Alberta's aviation community, helping promote and support general aviation in the region.

The club's roots go back even further. The first Red Deer Aero Club was formed in 1930 to establish an airport in the community, making aviation a longstanding part of Red Deer's story.

And you don't have to be a pilot or own an aircraft to get involved. The Red Deer Flying Club welcomes anyone with an interest in aviation to join them at their monthly meetings.

We're proud to have the Red Deer Flying Club as part of the aviation community at YQF and to see that passion for aviation continuing to bring people together.

A pretty sweet day at YQF!

Our team is celebrating Miracle Treat Day with Blizzards from Dairy Queen, supporting an incredible cause while enjoying a well-deserved afternoon treat.

On Miracle Treat Day, proceeds from every Blizzard sold at participating Dairy Queen locations help support local children's hospitals through Children's Miracle Network.

For five decades, Gary Hillman has been a familiar face in Alberta aviation, and this month, Hillman Air proudly celebrates 50 years in business.

Beyond leading Hillman Air, Gary has helped shape aviation in countless ways. As co-founder of the Harvard Historical Aviation Society, he has played an important role in preserving Canada's aviation history and sharing it with future generations. He has also been a passionate advocate for Girls in Aviation Day, helping introduce young people to the many exciting opportunities available in aviation.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to Alberta's aviation industry, Gary was honoured with the Jack & Molly Reilly Memorial Award at the Alberta Aviation, Aerospace & Defence Summit - an award presented to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to civil aviation and aerospace in the province.

Thank you, Gary, for your decades of leadership, mentorship, and dedication to aviation. Your impact reaches far beyond the runway.

Today, Red Deer Regional Airport had the privilege of welcoming Prime Minister Mark Carney to YQF.

As Central Alberta's regional airport, we're proud to provide the infrastructure and operational support needed to accommodate a wide range of aircraft and visitors - from business and recreational travellers to emergency services, military operations, and official government travel.

Opportunities like today's visit highlight the important role regional airports play in connecting communities and supporting the movement of people across our province and country.
