Quiet on the Trans Canada Trail. The Columbia and Western and Kettle Valley Rail Trail are also not too warm to ride with this temporary reprieve of cloud today. Sat, August 22. Bear s**t acknowledges they use the trail and riparian zones alongside as travel routes.

Information received from Recreation Sites and Trails BC about construction at the Weird Creek Crossing 4 km east of Arlington Lakes on the Trans Canada Trail.

Equipment mobilization to the site via Rupert Road and the existing detour will begin on August 12. From approximately August 14 to August 28, work will focus on gathering additional rock from the section of the KVRT between Weird Creek and the Arlington Lakes Recreation Site, similar to the rock-gathering work completed last year. During this period, an excavator and rock truck will be operating on the trail. Trail users are asked to exercise extreme caution around the equipment and to make eye contact with equipment operators before proceeding past any machinery.

Once the initial rock-gathering phase is complete, all construction activity and equipment will be contained within the project area circumvented by the detour. The trail and Weird Creek Crossing will remain closed for the duration of the project.

Construction is currently anticipated to be completed by November 2.

Restaurant Closure Update

Our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected by the wildfires in our region. ❤️

Due to the current wildfire smoke and out of consideration for the health and safety of our team, The Restaurant at Chute Lake Lodge will be closed for the next two days. August 12th Wednesday and August 13th Thursday.

This will also give our hardworking staff a well-deserved opportunity to rest and recharge.
