Trails to the Boundary To strengthen the local economy through development and management of the Trans Canada Trail - KVR Rail Trail between Eholt and McCulloch (155km)

The primary purposes of the Society are:

1. To bring stewardship of the Trans Canada Trail (the Trail) through the West Boundary under a single umbrella organization.

2. To oversee maintenance of the Trail

3. To promote the Trail

4. To create economic benefit from the Trail for our communities

5. In time, to expand to other trails in the West Boundary

It's a really good idea if you love the rails to trails in our region to support the Trans Canada Trail. To keep a trail system funded, costs a lot of money. Each year we receive a grant for helping with trail work. Every little bit of support counts to keep the dream of a National Trail in Canada alive.

The invasive plant that inspired Velcro: common burdock 🌿

Common burdock is known for its round, bristly burrs, which cling to animals and can travel long distances. Those burrs inspired Velcro.

But that same clinging ability can cause problems in nature. Burdock burrs can trap birds and bats and can also cause health issues for wild and farm animals. One plant can produce up to 16,000 seeds, helping it spread to new areas!
