🎉 WESTJET STRIKE UPDATE ✈️

There is good news this morning!

WestJet and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), representing WestJet Cabin Crew, have reached a tentative agreement. Strike and lockout notices have now been withdrawn, and cabin crew members will vote to ratify the agreement.

While this is a very positive step, operations will not return to normal overnight. WestJet is working to restore its schedule as quickly as possible, but delays, cancellations, and aircraft repositioning may continue over the next several days as the network recovers.

If you're travelling with WestJet in the coming days:
✈️ Check your flight status regularly.
📧 Watch your email for updates from WestJet.
📱 Don't make changes to your booking until you understand all of your options.

‼️🚨 WESTJET IS ON STRIKE 🚨‼️

As of 12:01 a.m. MDT on August 2, 2026, WestJet has suspended all mainline flights due to a labour disruption.

⚠️ Before you cancel your booking or accept a refund, know your rights.

One of the biggest mistakes travellers make is cancelling their own reservation or accepting a refund when what they actually want is to reach their destination.

If your flight is cancelled, you may be entitled to be rebooked, including on another airline in certain situations. Once you accept a refund or cancel your reservation, those rebooking options may no longer be available.

Don’t make any changes until you understand your options.

✅ WestJet Encore flights continue to operate.

If you’re travelling with WestJet between July 30 and August 5, you may qualify for WestJet’s flexible change and cancellation policy.

The strike will end when both parties reach a deal…..or when the federal government intervenes to force flight attendants back to work.

🚨WESTJET TRAVEL UPDATE 🚨

WestJet has announced that, despite ongoing negotiations with the union representing its cabin crew, an agreement has not yet been reached.

To minimize the risk of stranded guests and aircraft, WestJet has begun issuing flight cancellations and reducing its flying schedule ahead of a possible labour disruption.

If you’re travelling with WestJet over the next several days:
✈️ Check your flight status frequently.
📱 Watch your email and text messages for updates from WestJet.
🧳 Allow extra time and be prepared for possible schedule changes.

✈️ WestJet Labour Negotiations Update

If you’ve been following the news, here’s the latest:

What happened today

* The flight attendants’ union (CUPE) issued a 72-hour strike notice.
* WestJet responded with its own 72-hour lockout notice. This is a legal step employers often take during labour negotiations. It allows them to control how and when operations would stop if no agreement is reached.

At this time, no strike or lockout has begun, and both parties remain at the bargaining table working toward an agreement.

🗓️ If no agreement is reached, a work stoppage could begin as early as August 2.

For travellers:
✅ WestJet’s flexible change/cancel policy remains in place for eligible bookings travelling July 30 to August 4, 2026.
📧 If you’re travelling soon, keep a close eye on your email and your booking for any updates or schedule changes.
