A familiar face at the airport, Zumi from the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program visits the terminal every other week to spread smiles and provide comfort to passengers, visitors, and staff.

Travel Tip Tuesday: Traveling with Medication and Medical Items 💊✈️

When flying from Sault Ste. Marie Airport, here’s what you need to know about traveling with medication and medical items:

Medications: Prescription and essential non-prescription meds are allowed in carry-on bags, even if over 100ml. Keep them in original containers with labels. 💉
Medical Devices & Mobility Aids: CPAP machines, oxygen concentrators, and mobility aids like wheelchairs and crutches are permitted. Some items may require additional screening. 🦽
Packing Tips: Pack meds in your carry-on for easy access and be ready to show them at security. Do not pack medications that you need to take on a regular basis in your checked baggage. 🎒
Cannabis: Follow local regulations; medical cannabis must comply with Health Canada rules. 🍁

✈️ Sault Ste. Marie Airport Passenger Traffic Continues to Climb

As we celebrate Thanksgiving, we want to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude to our passengers, airline partners, employees, and the entire community for their continued support of Sault Ste. Marie Airport. 🍂🦃

September 2026 saw 14,531 passengers travel through YAM, representing a 13.1% increase over September 2025. Through the end of September, the airport has welcomed 108,250 passengers, highlighting the growing demand for air travel in our region.

Current airline service at YAM includes:
✅ Air Canada Express – 2 daily flights
✅ Bearskin Airlines – up to 5 daily flights on weekdays, including Dash 8 service on select routes
✅ Porter Airlines – 1 to 2 daily flights throughout the week

We're thankful for everyone who continues to choose to fly local and support air service in Northern Ontario. Your support helps keep our community connected to opportunities, families, and destinations across Canada and beyond.
