Be honest — have you ever crossed Europe off your list because it felt too far or too expensive? I used to think the same thing. And I'll admit, I even made that assumption for some of my clients.

Then I went to Spain's Costa Brava and Costa Dorada, and everything shifted.

Flying direct from Calgary, it only takes a few extra hours more than a flight to the Caribbean. A few extra hours. For the Mediterranean Sea. For ancient Roman ruins you can actually walk through. For seafood and tapas that will completely ruin you for anything back home. And here's the part that genuinely surprised me: the prices are comparable to the Caribbean too. I kept doing the mental math the entire trip, honestly a little stunned.

We went well beyond Barcelona, moving through coastal towns and historical cities that most travelers never think to visit. Girona's medieval streets and that stunning Jewish Quarter. Tossa de Mar, where ancient fortress walls drop right into turquoise water. Tarragona, where I walked through a Roman amphitheater that has been standing for two thousand years, looking out over the sea. These aren't places you see through museum glass. You're in them. You feel them.

And for anyone who loves an all-inclusive, this region has that too, with a distinctly European character that makes the whole experience feel like so much more. History lovers, foodies, beach seekers, culture enthusiasts. This destination genuinely has something for all of them, often within the same day.
