Montmorency Falls, Québec

If you’re visiting Quebec City or anywhere in Quebec, Montmorency Falls is a must-see stop.

About the Falls

* Height: 83 metres (272 ft) — about 30 metres taller than Niagara Falls.
* Located just outside Quebec City in the beautiful Parc de la Chute-Montmorency.

What You’ll See

* A suspension bridge directly over the top of the waterfall.
* Stunning views of the St. Lawrence River and surrounding cliffs.
* Walking trails, lookout points, and a cable car.

Parking & Tickets

* Parking is available at both the top and bottom of the falls.
* Park entry and parking fees vary by season.
* The cable car is optional and requires a separate ticket.

Interesting Facts

1. Montmorency Falls is higher than Niagara Falls.
2. In winter, a giant ice formation called the Sugarloaf forms at the base.
3. There are 487 stairs connecting the top and bottom viewpoints.

Time Needed

* Plan for 2–3 hours to enjoy the viewpoints, bridge, trails, and photos.

Best part: You can stand on a bridge directly above the rushing water and look straight down into the falls—an incredible view you won’t get at many waterfalls in Canada.
