SAFE BOATING AWARENESS WEEK May 18-24, 2024

Are you geared up for some quality time on the water this boating season? Before embarking on your adventure, a reminder from Canadian Safe Boating Council's 2024 boating season's 5 core safety messages:

1️⃣Wear Your Lifejacket
2️⃣Boat Sober
3️⃣Take a Boating Course
4️⃣Be Prepared, You and Your Vessel
5️⃣Be Cold Water Safe

Additionally, we are here to equip you with 3 essential Canvas Safety messages:

1️⃣Look at Your Canvas Window
Inspect that there are no signs of damage such as cracks, dents, or fogging that could obstruct your view. You want to ensure clear visibility along your route.

💡TIPS: Use manufacturer-approved cleaners to restore your window clarity. Consider replacing the window if the clarity cannot be restored after cleaning and polishing.

2️⃣Check Your Fasteners
Ensure that all your fasteners for your clear windows, bimini, dodger, and other attachments on your boat are securely fastened, minimizing the risk of any items coming loose.

💡TIPS: Check if there is any rust and/or salt build up. Use waterproof lubricant to lubricate your fasteners for smoother use of snaps and zippers. Tighten the tube fitting to avoid misplacement of your frame.

3️⃣Feel Your Marine Canvas & Threads
Ensure there are no abrasions that could lead to fabric tears. Check your threads to see if it has loosened up from UV damage. Maintain the overall quality of your canvas to enhance durability!

💡TIPS: Restitch the seams for threads failure to prevent marine canvas from falling apart. Reinforce any tears or holes with extra fabric to prevent further damage on marine canvas.
