On June 25, 2026, CIFFA hosted the Western Golf Tournament for their members who enjoyed an outstanding day of golf, networking, and industry camaraderie at the beautiful GTCC Westwood Plateau Sky Course in Coquitlam, BC. This sold-out event is one of the most popular of the year and the reasons why are clear – a fantastic day on the course followed by an evening of great connections.

The Plimsoll Club hosted its Annual Golf Tournament on Thursday (May 7th) and Courtney Agencies was there. Pictured here, President Paul Courtney in the foreground focussing hard on getting the right selfie angle and, in the centre, two friends from Liberate Logistics. Paul also introduced Courtney’s newest team member (back left), Conner Hamilton, to Courtney’s collegial culture and this fun industry event. Welcome Conner!

Founded in 1949, the Plimsoll Club aims to bring together members of the shipping industry in Western Canada through seasonal events, where it raises funds for local charities like the Mission to Seafarers, and the GVRD Food Bank.

CIFFA President and Courtney Agencies President, Paul Courtney, along with team members, Tiffany Vandenberghe (Freight Lead) and Serrena Chan (Customs) attended the CIFFA Spring Thaw event on March 11 at the Pinnacle Hotel, Vancouver.

Paul had the pleasure of presenting certificates to local graduates who recently completed CIFFA and FIATA diploma courses. It was a great opportunity to recognize their achievements and support the next generation of professionals entering the freight forwarding and logistics industry. Congratulations to all!

Courtney President, Paul Courtney (second from the right), and team member Tiffany Vandenberghe (centre), joined industry friends at the Plimsoll Club Winter Social on March 4, 2026. Industry events are great opportunities to share observations about shipping market trends, to learn how people are managing regulatory and trade changes, and to continue to build relationships with partners in the logistics and maritime community.

What’s a Plimsoll you ask? Named for the man who had the idea, a Plimsoll is the mark or change in paint colour on a ship’s hull that shows how low the ship sits in the water — an indication of how heavy the ship is. While this isn’t as relevant to Courtney’s current service offerings, three generations ago Courtney started out as a “Ship’s Agent” and the plimsoll was a critical metric to be reported.
