It is a privilege to be a part of this safety initiative with Ontario Provincial Police - West Region. They also share our commitment to student safety. Until the 13th, they will be checking in with us to learn about problem areas, monitoring school bus routes and helping us ensure that our riders get home safe. Check out the post below for some tips to help keep our roads safe!
is participating in the West Region’s Safety Stops Here School Bus Safety Initiative from March 2nd to 13th, 2026. Our goal is simple: protect every student and every road user.
Officers will be increasing patrols around school bus routes, monitoring for stop arm violations, unsafe passing, distracted driving, and other behaviours that put children at risk.
Every day, thousands of students in Grey Bruce rely on drivers to make safe choices. When a school bus stops and its lights are flashing, traffic in both directions must stop—no exceptions.
You can help keep our roads safe by:
• Staying alert in school zones and rural pickup areas
• Reducing speed and avoiding distractions
• Watching for children crossing the road
• Stopping fully for school buses with red lights flashing and stop arm extended
Together, we can prevent collisions and ensure every child gets to and from school safely. Safety stops here—because their lives depend on it. ^kl
