Hail or shine, we're always up for a good time on the golf course!

Robb and Gilbert attended yesterday's MTA Associated Trades Division Annual Golf Tournament. An event we always look forward to.

As a sponsor, we set up shop to chat with golfers about Nutech Comply between swings. Great conversations and a great day overall.

Canada's border is being disrupted by something a lot less headline-grabbing.

The CBSA's IT systems keep failing, and Canadian truckers are the ones paying the price. Delays, rising costs, and in some cases drivers stranded at the border for days.

The Canadian Trucking Alliance says they've been warning about this for years.

Have you been affected by these outages? Let us know in the comments. 👇

Cargo theft isn't what it used to be — and most carriers don't realize how much has changed.

A year ago, we covered the rise of freight fraud in trucking. Since then, the tactics have gotten more sophisticated, the losses have grown, and organized crime has moved further into the digital space.

Here's what's different now, and what you can do to protect your operation.

If you're hauling dangerous goods across the U.S. border, 49 CFR is the rulebook you need to know. Here's a breakdown of the 6 key areas it covers 👇

Hazmat Classification: Every hazardous material must be properly identified and classified before it ever gets loaded onto a truck.

Packaging and Containment: Hazmat must be packaged in approved containers that meet strict federal standards.

Shipping Documentation: Every hazmat shipment requires accurate paperwork, including shipping papers that identify the material, quantity, and emergency contact information.

Training Requirements: Anyone involved in handling, transporting, or documenting hazmat shipments must be trained and recertified every three years.

Placarding and Labeling: Vehicles and packages must display the correct placards and labels so that first responders and the public can quickly identify what's on board in the event of an incident.

Emergency Response Procedures: Drivers must know exactly what to do if something goes wrong. Proper emergency response planning can be the difference between a contained incident and a disaster.

Transport trucks make up just 3% of vehicles on Ontario roads, but they're involved in 12% of fatal collisions. A new report from Ontario's Auditor General sheds some light on why that gap exists.

When her office sent six undercover students to trucking schools across the province, what they found was alarming. In one case, students weren't trained to turn left. Reverse parking and emergency stops were skipped entirely. These are fundamental skills that every driver on the road needs to have.

25% of private trucking colleges were never inspected. And six unregistered schools were still booking road tests even after being investigated and penalized.

The province says it's taking action and that many of those operators have since been shut down. But the bigger question is how many drivers are already on the road with gaps in their training.

And yes, new roles are emerging. Roles that have more to do with managing and shaping the tech that we use. The industry is evolving.

Big news out of the U.S. Supreme Court this week and if you're in trucking or freight, you're going to want to know about this.

The court ruled unanimously that freight brokers can now be held liable for accidents caused by carriers they hire. That means if a broker puts a driver on the road and something goes wrong, they could be at fault under state law.

What do you think — is this the right call?
